Video Call Guide
What you'll see
When the call connects, you'll see the other person's video in full screen with your own video in a smaller view. A timer shows how long the call has been running, and attendees also see the running cost of the session.
Call controls
The control buttons are on the right side of the screen:
Mute / Unmute — turn your microphone on or off.
Camera / Cam Off — turn your video on or off.
Flip — switch between your front and back camera (only available while your camera is on).
Chat — open the in-call text chat. A badge appears on the chat icon when you have an unread message.
End call (red button) — leave the session.
You can also switch your audio output (phone speaker, loudspeaker, Bluetooth, or headphones) using the audio icon.
Ending the session
Tap the red end call button to leave. For attendees, your card is charged based on the total call duration once the session ends. You may then be asked to rate and review the host.
Notes:
Keep the app open during your call — your screen stays awake automatically.
If your connection drops, the app will try to reconnect you. If you can't get back in, return to the Home tab and rejoin the session.
The app needs camera and microphone permissions to make calls. If you denied these, enable them in your device settings.
FAQs
The other person can't hear or see me.
Check that you're not muted and your camera is on — the Mute and Camera buttons show their current state. Also confirm GiG has camera and microphone permissions in your device settings.
Can I chat without speaking?
Yes. Tap the Chat button to send text messages during the call.
Can I view the chat after the call ends?
No. Chat messages are only available during the call and are not saved. If something important is shared — like a link or contact detail — note it down before the call ends.
What happens if the call disconnects?
The app attempts to reconnect automatically. If that fails, go back to the Home tab and rejoin — hosts will see a "rejoin" banner for their running session.
