Notifications and Incoming Calls

How incoming calls work

  1. An attendee joins your GiG from the Home tab or through your shared link.

  2. Your phone shows a full-screen incoming call — just like a normal phone call — with the option to accept or decline.

  3. Tap Accept to join the video call right away.

  4. If you have the app open, you'll also see a banner on the Home tab saying an attendee has joined, with a Join Call button.

Missed calls

You have around 40 seconds to answer. If you don't answer in time:

  • The call is marked as Missed.

  • The attendee is notified that you're busy and encouraged to try again later or choose another host.

Missed calls are a poor experience for attendees, so only stay Online when you're genuinely ready to take calls. Toggle yourself Offline when you're not available.

Notes:

  • Notifications must be allowed for GiG in your device settings — without them, you won't hear incoming calls when the app is in the background.

  • Incoming calls only ring while you are set to Online.

FAQs

My phone doesn't ring when someone joins my GiG.

Check that notifications are enabled for GiG in your device settings, and that your phone is not in Do Not Disturb or silent mode. Also confirm you're toggled Online in the app.

I missed a call — can I call the attendee back?

No. The attendee needs to join your GiG again. Stay Online and they may retry.

Do I get notified when a session ends?

Session start and end updates happen silently in the background — only incoming calls ring.
